René González
San José, Costa Rica
René González is a London based artist of Latino background who started painting in the graffiti art scene in Costa Rica as a teenager, before moving to the UK to undertake a BA in Fine Art Painting at City & Guilds of London Art School. The artist found refuge in nature’s embrace when distance turned from a qualitative measurement to a feeling. This very intimate and personal experience - which many can relate to - is mirrored in his work; animals become symbolic of emotions and places become synonymous with alienation.

This site, and the texts included herein, are a process of constructing relationships and inviting new forms of looking, interpreting, and understanding. It is an open space for conversation, for dialogue, a pressure cooker of ideas and a disentangling of creative processes.
From academic texts to informal studio visits to open-ended conversations, we exchange, speak, and write from and with the warmth that lives in Latin America. Breaking from the rigidity of formal language conventions. Art as a free-flowing creation, writing as a free-flowing practice.
Led by Francisca Gomez
